We are able to eliminate allergies by influencing the immune system to stop reacting abnormally to harmless substances.   3. I have had urticaria for nearly 9 months.... dermatographia to be specific. I have no idea what is causing it and have eliminated a number of possibilities. I have very good access to health care and my doctor friends have not been able to figure this one out. My hives are relentless and only under contol when I take hydroxizine. I've been able to take 5 mg at night to control it until the next day and most of the night the following day. I've read that for many it goes away within a year. I'm praying that after my flu is over, that perhaps I will get rid of this dermatographia condition. Any more thoughts on this? Thank you for not printing my e-mail address. - Sue from Moraga, CA

    Hives are usually an allergic reaction mostly to certain foods but can also be from a contactant such as lotion, make up, metals, chemicals, etc. In my practice we use a method called Advanced Allergy Therapeutics that was developed over the past ten years in Australia and has only been available in the US for about 6 months. We have had excellent results treating not only hives, but eczema, rashes and skin patches as well, and in many of those cases traditional medical treatments were unsuccessful. Additionallly this method is completely non-invasive and with dermatographia you would have to be concerned with the reaction you may get from traditional skin scratch teating.
