I don't know of a showroom in the San Jose area that has both the Anlin and Polybau windows. If you’ve received estimates from dealers of both manufacturers you could compare the information you received on the brochures, the information that the sales representative gave you and from the website for each company. My recommendation is to identify what is most important to you, and then see which company can meet your needs the best.   « less

The International window company is still in business. Were they not able to help you locate service parts? International Window Co. has a location in Hayward CA. The phone number is 800-624-0990. If they no longer stock service parts for your model window, ask if they could tell you who does. Many window manufacturers use the same spring mechanism for the double hung window. Therefore, they are interchangeable.   « less

  10. Hi, I live in Oakland, CA and am collecting bids for window replacement. My understanding is that The local building code requires tempered glass if the window begins within 18” of the floor. My windows are 47" x 71" and are not split halfway down. The lower frame is smaller and is 9ft. square. The window starts less than 18" from the floor. The Anlin window rep said that the code actually states that I don't need tempered glass in the lower window since it is only 9ft. sq. (even though the window is 18" from the floor). Is this correct? Is there a sub-code to the 18" rule that allows this? Thanks much. - JP from Oakland, CA
